Monument of Friendship of Peoples (Grozny)

Фото 1
In the center of the memorial stands Nikolai Fedorovich Gikalo, a well-known party figure and Russian revolutionary. He has held numerous Soviet, military, and party positions in the North Caucasus. He is depicted in a regular coat, without a head covering, with a focused gaze directed into the distance. In his hand, he holds a stack of papers.

To the left of Gikalo is his comrade Aslanbek Sheripov, a Chechen and son of an officer, commander of the Chechen Red Army. Together with Gikalo, he formed a detachment of rebels to fight against the Denikin forces. Sheripov was killed by Denikin's punitive forces.

On the right is the third participant in establishing Soviet power in the North Caucasus, Gapur Arkhiyev. He grew up in a poor family and was the people's commissar of the Terek People's Council. Arkhiyev is depicted without a head covering, in a Circassian coat, with a calm and focused face.

Despite their differences in nationality, culture, and traditions, these revolutionaries were united by a single idea. However, the triumphant march of Soviet power across many regions was accompanied by bloody civil conflicts.
