The monument to F.M. Dostoevsky in Baden-Baden symbolizes the instability of the writer's life, reflected in his biography and works. Sculptor Leonid Baranov created this monument, which was installed in 2004. Initially, the author wanted to place it in the backyard of the local casino to emphasize Dostoevsky's fascination with gambling, but ultimately the monument was installed in the Rothenbachtal valley. To reach it, one must walk past the building where a prison once stood. Dostoevsky was enchanted by Baden-Baden and loved to stroll through this German resort, enjoying its beautiful views.
