In Rostov-on-Don, many monuments have been installed to make passersby smile and remember something pleasant. One of the favorites among residents and visitors is the bronze sculpture 'Ded Shchukary', located on the embankment. The authors of this monument are honored artist Nikolai Vasilyevich Mozaev and Vitaly Ivanovich Voloshin.

The prototype of Ded Shchukary, a character from the work 'The Raised Virgin Land', was carpenter Timofey Timofeyevich Vorobyov, who lived in the village of Gremyachy Log and often visited Sholokhov. He received his nickname in childhood and carried it until the end of his life. In the bronze sculpture, he is depicted as a thin old man with a curly beard and a kind face, dressed in traditional Russian clothing. Ded Shchukary is shown in a half-sitting position, resting his right hand on his knee, as if telling one of his instructive stories. Next to him, on a two-legged stand, hangs a small pot with fish soup.
