The monument 'Giver of Life' in Rostov-on-Don is one of the most touching in the city. Opened in September 2011, it is located in front of one of the local maternity hospitals. The author of this bronze monument is the talented sculptor Mikhail Demyanenko. The inspiration for the sculpture came from the sculptor's pregnant wife, whom he sculpted over four years. During this time, they welcomed a daughter and a son. At an exhibition in Dortmund, the sculpture made such an impression on one visitor that he offered a large sum for it, but Demyanenko refused.

The four-meter bronze figure depicts a pregnant woman in a long dress that accentuates her rounded belly. The sculpture radiates calmness and wisdom, and the heroine's special gaze, directed 'inward,' gives it a unique charm. This monument became the first in Russia dedicated to pregnant women, and later similar ideas began to be realized in other cities.

Over time, legends and beliefs have formed around 'Giver of Life.' Some claim that it brings good luck in childbirth, others promise long-awaited pregnancy, and some, luck in love.
