This year marks the 175th anniversary of the birth of Emperor Alexander III. In honor of this event, the Embassy Cossack Station of the Imperial Convoy in Estonia is beginning the restoration of the Tsar-Peacemaker monument, which was erected in 1896 near the city of Haapsalu on the shores of the Baltic Sea. This Byzantine-style monument appeared in Pullapää in 1896, at a place where the royal family often rested. The installation of the monument was associated with the miraculous rescue of family members after a train crash at the Borki station. It was one of the first monuments in honor of Alexander III, representing a stone stela with three domes and Orthodox crosses. In the middle part, there was an icon of Saint Prince Alexander Nevsky, and below, a metal bas-relief depicting the Emperor. The monument, surrounded by a fence, was located on a hill, accessible by a stone staircase.

The events of the 20th century left their mark on this unique monument. The icon and bas-relief were lost, the crosses were knocked down, and the monument itself became covered with cracks and bullet marks. The area around it turned into a wasteland.

To restore the monument to its original appearance, the following work needs to be done: install crosses on the domes, repair the chips and cracks on the monument, cover it with a special solution, strengthen the foundation, landscape the area, and install a metal fence.

The project has been approved by the Department for the Protection of Monuments of Estonia and has received the blessing of Metropolitan Eugene, head of the Estonian Orthodox Church MP.

The total cost of the project is 15,000 euros.
