In 2004, a whimsical monument to the reader of the newspaper 'Evening Rostov' was installed on Bolshaya Sadovaya Street, near the newspaper's editorial office. The author of this bronze sculpture is the renowned Rostov sculptor Dmitry Lyndan. The monument quickly became beloved by the city's residents, and besides its official name, it acquired other titles such as 'Reader of the Newspaper' and 'Citizen with a Dog.'

The composition depicts a young man, dressed impeccably, who is seated on a bench. He is relaxed, leaning back, with one leg crossed over the other, resting one arm on the bench while holding a newspaper in the other. It is clear that he is deeply engrossed in reading. Beside him sits a bronze dog, ears perked up, trying to peek at the newspaper to catch up on the latest news.

This monument marked the beginning of a tradition of adorning Rostov-on-Don with original bronze sculptures, of which there are now many in the city, adding a unique charm. The polished parts of the sculpture show that many people have sat on the bench, taken photos with the reader, holding his finger, and the dog by its ear.
