On January 28, 2010, the grand opening of the monument to the great Russian writer Anton Pavlovich Chekhov took place in Rostov-on-Don. This event was timed to the 150th anniversary of the writer's birth, who was born on Don land. The monument was created by the famous Rostov sculptor Anatoly Sknarin, who won the project competition.

The monument is a bronze sculpture of Chekhov, set on a granite pedestal. The writer is depicted looking into the distance, leaning on a fragment of a low fence. The height of the monument is 2.5 meters. It is located on the picturesque Pushkin Street, which has preserved its pre-revolutionary charm, not far from the public library.
