In the city of Oryol, in the Dvoryanskoe Gnezdo park, a bust of I.S. Turgenev, an outstanding Russian writer and classic of literature, has been installed. As of today (2020), there are four monuments dedicated to this great writer, who was born in the Oryol region. One of them is located in the historical center of the city, in a literary and cultural reserve on the picturesque bank of the Orlik River. This monument was erected in 1968 as part of the landscaping of the Dvoryanskoe Gnezdo park, timed to the 150th anniversary of Turgenev's birth. The bust and pedestal are made of gray granite, designed by Moscow sculptor G.P. Bessarabsky.

The first bust of I.S. Turgenev was unveiled in this park in 1903. It was a copy of the original work by M.M. Antokolsky, created in 1880, but later lost. The newspaper 'Oryol Vesti' reported to its readers: 'On June 4, a solemn opening of the bust of our great countryman I.S. Turgenev took place in the garden of the Society of Lovers of Fine Arts.'
