In 2014, a monument was unveiled in Belgorod to celebrate City Day. The sculpture is located at the intersection of Svyato-Troitsky Boulevard and the main city avenue named after Bohdan Khmelnytsky, which has borne the name of the Ukrainian hetman since 1954.

The bust of Bohdan Khmelnytsky first appeared here sixty years ago. It was created by sculptors Alexander Lokhtachev and his son Denis in Zlatoust and cast in bronze in Minsk.

At the opening ceremony, the governor of Belgorod region emphasized that during times of great crises and trials, new Bohdan Khmelnytskys emerge, capable of rising above current problems and calling for an end to fratricidal war. He also noted the heroic past and great history of the Russian and Ukrainian peoples.

The monument has become part of the "Open-Air Museum" project.

In 2004, the hetman's bust was installed in the border settlement of Rovenki in Belgorod region in honor of the 350th anniversary of the Pereyaslav Council. In the village of Dubovoe near Belgorod, there is also a natural monument symbolizing the reunification of Russia and Ukraine. According to legend, the long-lived oak was planted in 1654 by the Belgorod voivode Prince Grigory Grigoryevich Romadanovsky and the hetman of Ukraine Bohdan Khmelnytsky. Today, this place is popular for wedding photo sessions.
