On February 1, 2017, a monument to the outstanding Russian writer Mikhail Afanasyevich Bulgakov was unveiled in the residential quarter of the Skolkovo innovation center. He is known for his immortal works, such as the novels "The White Guard," "The Master and Margarita," the play "Running Away," and many others.
The installation of the monument was timed to coincide with 2017, declared the Year of Literature. Bulgakov was chosen due to a survey that showed he is the most popular writer among Skolkovo employees.
The monument, named the Bulgakov Project, became the diploma work of young sculptor Ekaterina Kazanskaya, who was nominated for the gold medal of the Russian Academy of Arts. The sculpture depicts Bulgakov sitting on a chair with his left leg draped over his knee. It is made of bronze and installed on a bronze pedestal in the shape of a rectangular block.
