In 2013, a monument to the famous Don Cossack Ataman Matvey Ivanovich Platov was unveiled in Moscow. The monument was installed in the Cossack Glory Square, and its author is the renowned sculptor Konstantin Rodionovich Chernyavsky. The project was selected as the winner of a creative competition, which was won by the honored artist of Russia Alexander Shapin.

The bronze monument depicts Ataman Platov and his horse. They stand on a gray round granite pedestal, which rises in the shape of a mound. The height of Platov's figure is over two and a half meters, and together with the pedestal, it reaches 3.1 meters.

The Ataman is presented in full growth in military uniform with orders and weapons, with a cloak hanging from his back. The general bows his head after victory over enemies, has removed his helmet, and holds it in his left hand, while his right hand rests on his heart. Next to him stands his loyal Don horse.

The pedestal bears the inscription: "Hero of the Patriotic War of 1812, 1814. Ataman of the Don Army, General of Cavalry, Count of the Russian Empire Matvey Ivanovich Platov." To the left of the inscription is a bas-relief depicting the attack of the Cossacks, and to the right, a scene of the Cossacks entering Paris. On the back of the pedestal is a map showing the movements of Cossack units from Moscow to Paris in 1812 and 1814.
