Monument to Aivazovsky in Kronstadt

The famous Russian artist Aivazovsky, renowned for his marine landscapes, rightfully received a monument in Kronstadt. The decision to install the monument was made in honor of his 190th anniversary, and the solemn opening took place on September 15 of the same year.

The sculpture was created by the People's Artist of Russia, Professor of the Academy of Arts Vladimir Emilevich Gorevoy and architect Nikolai Nikolaevich Elgazin. The granite pedestal lists Aivazovsky's contributions to art and society. The bronze monument is in the form of a bust depicting the artist at work with a palette and brushes. The total height of the monument reaches 4 meters.

The monument to Aivazovsky has become especially popular among sailors, who consider him their artist. The painter himself often said: "The sea is my life!"
