On November 24, 2004, a ceremonial opening of the monument to Alexander Suvorov took place in Krasnodar, timed to the 175th anniversary of his birth.

The four-meter bronze statue is installed in a square on Oktyabrskaya Street, opposite the Shifrovальное School named after Shtemenko.

Sculptor Alan Kornaev noted that this location was chosen deliberately, as it was the site of the first Cossack fortresses.

The history of the monument's creation began in April 2004, when Kornaev's project won a competition.

Initially, the monument had an inscription: "Alexander Suvorov, founder of Yekaterinodar." However, after protests from Krasnodar historians, the words "founder of Yekaterinodar" had to be urgently removed. In the future, it is planned to place the inscription "Grateful Kuban."

This is not the only remark from historians: the final version of the monument contains some historical inaccuracies. Moreover, the author himself admits that the sculpture does not fully correspond to the original.

"It was important for me to capture Suvorov as he remains in the people's memory. The main thing was to combine simplicity and grandeur," said Kornaev.
