The monument to Alexander Vasilyevich Suvorov in Krasnodar was opened on November 24, 2002, in honor of the 175th anniversary of the commander’s birth.

The bronze figure, four meters tall, is located in a square on Oktyabrskaya Street, opposite the Shifrovальное School named after Shtemenko. Sculptor Alan Kornaev explained the choice of this location by noting that the first Cossack fortresses were situated here.

The history of the monument's creation began in April 2004, when Kornaev's project won a competition. Initially, the monument had the inscription: "Alexander Suvorov, founder of Yekaterinodar." However, after protests from Krasnodar historians, the words "founder of Yekaterinodar" had to be removed. In the future, it is planned to replace it with "Grateful Kuban."

This is not the only complaint from historians regarding the monument: the final version contains some historical inaccuracies. Furthermore, the author himself admits that the sculpture does not fully correspond to the original.

"It was important for me to depict Suvorov as he is remembered in popular memory. The main goal was to combine simplicity and grandeur," noted Alan Kornaev.
