The monument to Alexander Sergeyevich Pushkin is located in the center of Oryol, in the square in front of the Oryol State University building. The unveiling of the monument took place on June 6, 1999, to commemorate the 200th anniversary of the poet's birth. The sculpture was created by Oryol artist Valery Fedorovich Mikheev, a member of the Union of Artists of Russia. The monument features a bronze bust set on a pedestal in the form of an Ionic column, around which are semicircular benches made of polished black granite.

In May 1829, Pushkin, traveling from Moscow to the Caucasus to serve in General Paskevich's army during the Russo-Turkish War, made a detour of two hundred versts to visit Oryol and meet with General A.P. Yermolov. In honor of the 200th anniversary of the poet's birth, a monument was erected on June 6, 1999, consisting of a bronze bust on an Ionic column, surrounded by benches made of black granite.
