Pushkin never traveled abroad, remaining "non-traveling." However, his fame spread worldwide, and monuments to the poet have been erected in over forty countries, including Europe, Asia, America, and Africa.

One such monument is located in Los Angeles, USA, and it evokes surprise and confusion. It is called "Requiem for Alexander Pushkin" and features a Muse with two wings holding the poet's head in her hand. The sculptor Pototsky explained that this composition symbolizes Natalia Goncharova, Pushkin's wife, as the Muse and Salome, as she allegedly sacrificed him. Pushkin, in turn, is compared to John the Baptist, the prophet of Russian literature. The Muse's wings symbolize kindness and anger, while the circle they form represents the broken ring of Russian life.

John the Baptist, the prophet of God, openly rebuked Herod for cohabiting with Herodias, his brother Philip's wife. For this, Herod Antipas imprisoned him, but John continued to reproach Herod. Herodias, hating the prophet, sought a way to get rid of him.

On the day of his birthday, Herod held a feast attended by many noble guests. Herodias's daughter, Salome, performed a dance that everyone greatly enjoyed. Impressed, Herod promised to grant her any wish, even to give her half of his kingdom. Salome consulted her mother, who suggested demanding the head of John. Upon returning, Salome requested the head of John the Baptist. Herod, unwilling to break his word, ordered the request to be fulfilled.

The head of John the Baptist was severed and brought to Salome on a large platter, and she handed it to her mother.

Such a monument is established in the USA. According to the sculptor, Natalia Goncharova is guilty of Pushkin's death, just as Salome is guilty of John the Baptist's death. However, this is incorrect. Natalia loved her husband and did not wish for his death.
