In the Kostroma region, the memory of Saint Ion is especially honored on his native land in Soligalich. In the late 16th and early 17th centuries, a wooden church was built in the village of Odnoushevo in honor of the Moscow saints Peter, Alexius, and Ion. In 1775, it was replaced with a stone structure. In the 1930s, the church was closed, and now its building lies in ruins. In the village of Odnoushevo, a chapel built over a spring has been preserved, where, according to legend, Saint Ion prayed in solitude during his childhood.

Since the mid-17th century, an annual procession has been held from Soligalich to Odnoushevo on the first Sunday of the Peter's Fast. It covered about 10 versts along the Svetitsa River. The church historian of the Kostroma region, Archpriest Ioann Syrcov, describes this event as follows: "Dozens of silver-gilded banners rose above the praying crowd; rows of richly decorated icons from city churches evoked universal reverence. A numerous assembly of clergy, led by the cathedral's rector, performed a service for the Moscow saints. After the service, all private processions united into one, which left the city in clear May weather, accompanied by the ringing of bells and a multitude of participants. The weather at this time was exceptionally May-like. The sun, illuminating everyone with bright rays, seemed to rejoice at the sight of the thousands-strong procession of reverent people, playing on the gilding of icons and banners. On both sides of the road and river stretched the emerald velvet green of fields and meadows. In the distance, the horizon closed with blue forests. Only occasionally did the tops of rural churches and villages peek out from the depths of the forests. Thoughts involuntarily returned to the long-gone times when here, amidst pristine nature, one of the great pillars of the Russian Orthodox Church, Saint Ion, was born and raised."
