Merchant K.N. Belov's Mansion

Фото 1
This building is so prominent that the nearest public transport stop is named after it, and it is often used as a landmark in local news. Belov's house, also known as the Merchant Belov's House, is one of the most interesting architectural attractions in Syzran. It is a rare example of a facade with delicate and plastic decor in the Rococo style, which is unusual for the city.

The house belonged to local fish entrepreneur Konstantin Nikolayevich Belov. Apparently, he was quite a wealthy man and was able to build a structure that a century later is considered unique for Syzran.

After the revolution, the house became state property. After World War II, it housed a children's hospital, and now the building is home to a sanitary-bacteriological laboratory.

The building clearly needs repairs, but this prospect raises concerns among local architecture enthusiasts. It has been reported that during previous attempts at renovation, the house lost some details. We know what replacing restoration with simple plaster work can lead to.
