In the late 19th and early 20th centuries, the plot where one of the most beautiful Art Nouveau houses in Saratov now stands belonged to postal official A.M. Nikolsky. His house, located deep within the plot, was two stories high. In June 1889, the Chernyshevskys rented an apartment here, where the famous critic spent the last months of his life.

In the early 1900s, Nikolsky's property was acquired by Konstantin Kondratievich Reineke, a representative of a family of milling magnates, and he owned it until the autumn of 1917. Reineke quickly erected a new mansion. Some local historians and architects believe that the design may have belonged to the famous Russian architect F.O. Shekhtel, as the architecture of the building exhibits characteristic features of his style. Additionally, Shekhtel was acquainted with Konstantin Kondratievich's brother, Arnold, the founder of the Russian Drama Theater in St. Petersburg.

The mansion still attracts the attention of passersby. Behind an elegant fence lies an asymmetrical facade. Above the main entrance is a large multicolored panel depicting dancers in blue dresses, inspired by the painting "Dancers" (1898) by Austrian artist F. Stuck. Above the windows of the facades are majolica inserts in pearlescent pink and violet-blue shades. The ceramic decoration of the building was created in the workshop of P.K. Vaulin, considered the best at that time.

The facades of the house evoke admiration, but few enter inside. Currently, the building houses the State Budgetary Institution "Saratov Regional Clinical Hospital for War Veterans."
