The small elegant mansion on Bolshaya Gruzinskaya Street was built in 1897 by architect V.V. Barkov for the family of first guild merchant Vasily Alexandrovich Gorbunov and Ekaterina, daughter of the famous Vikula Eliseevich Morozov. In the 1890s, Ekaterina married Vasily Alexandrovich Gorbunov, who was the director of the Kostroma "Partnership of Paper and Weaving Manufacture of Brothers G. and A. Gorbunov."

The mansion features asymmetrical architecture: the right side is two stories high, while the left consists of an elongated single-story volume. The two-story part is adorned with two exquisite balconies with beautiful wrought iron railings, topped with triangular pediments featuring cartouches and monograms of the owners, as well as two planters. Below the balconies are niches with planters. The three main windows of the hall stand out with their oval shape. The windows and pilasters of the mansion are decorated with elegant stucco work. The facade retains the date of construction and the owner's monogram.

Ekaterina Vikulovna, like many from the Morozov family, was actively involved in charity work. She was a patroness of the Presnensky Ladies' Charity for the Poor, supported institutions in this part of Moscow, and made significant donations. In 1905, she funded the opening of a maternity shelter with 15 beds and an outpatient clinic, which she handed over to the city. The nursery in the N.L. Shchustov orphanage bore her name, and in 1910 she donated 10,000 rubles to this orphanage. In Levshinsky Lane near Arbat, she opened a free maternity shelter with 8 beds and a gynecological clinic with the same number of places.

Interestingly, Ekaterina herself was childless and adopted an abandoned girl who received a good education but later fell ill with schizophrenia, which brought much sorrow to her adoptive parents.

After the revolution, the widowed Ekaterina Vikulovna had her house taken away, and she was forced to live with her sick daughter in the basement of a house in one of the alleys of Prechistenka.

After the revolution, various embassies were located in the house. The Embassy of Germany left after the reunification of Germany. The mansion now belongs to sculptor Zurab Tsereteli.
