The Reintzenstein mansion, built in the 1870s, is impossible to miss while descending the Babushkin ascent towards the Volga. This corner house, designed in the popular architectural style of Saratov, holds special value. The facade of the building is characterized by lightness and decorativeness, thanks to the beautiful semi-circular windows on the first floor with keystones, pilasters, and Ionic orders. Mythological figures of Atlantes, who support the arch of the second floor on their mighty shoulders, particularly attract attention.

In 1886, the Saratov postal and telegraph district was located here, serving not only the Saratov but also the Astrakhan province. Employees of the district, including the chief, accountant, clerk, and their assistants, lived in this building with their families.

During the Soviet era, city institutions were placed on the first floor, while the second floor was allocated for residential apartments, a situation that persists to this day. A café-bar is located in the basement on the side of the Babushkin ascent.

The building, situated on the slope of the Babushkin ascent, has long been neglected and is covered with deep cracks that residents have unsuccessfully tried to repair. However, the weary Atlantes from the once majestic facade understand that this is truly a Sisyphean task and hopelessly gaze into the distance.
