The Orsha Local History Museum of Peasant Labor and Life was opened on March 23, 1983, in the village of Orshanka. In 1985, it was awarded the title of "people's museum," becoming a museum of peasant labor and life. The founder of the museum is Nikolai Panteleevich Motovilov, a veteran of the Great Patriotic War, Honored Teacher of the RSFSR, and honorary citizen of the village of Orshanka. The museum is part of the Historical and Local History Museum Complex of the Orsha Municipal District.

The museum houses unique collections of documents and items reflecting the life and work of the local population. The exhibition includes sections on ethnography and numismatics, a bell section featuring 115 wedding, church, and hand bells, as well as a section on hand tools with a collection of carpentry, turning, and cooperage tools. In the agricultural section, one can see machines and mechanisms for land cultivation using horse traction, feed preparation, and seed processing. There are also sections on flax and flax cultivation, science and technology, and samovars.

A special pride of the museum is its nearly complete collection of bells and small bells cast at pre-revolutionary factories in the Volga region. Thanks to this unique collection, the museum is known as the "Museum of Bells."
