"Orenburg People's Museum of Defenders of the Fatherland named after General M.G. Chernyaev" was opened on May 7, 2010.

Since its opening, 726 tours have been conducted, attended by over 18,000 people. The museum organized and held 6 international scientific and practical conferences titled "Russia, Great Power. History and Modernity," resulting in the publication of 5 collections of materials. More than 280 people participated in the conferences.

Visiting the museum and signing up for tours is free. Some exhibits can be touched or tried on. Photography in the museum is allowed without payment.
