One of the largest cemeteries in the Czech Republic is the famous Olšany Cemetery, closely associated with Russian emigration. Here lie thousands of first-wave Russian emigrants, including Cossack General Starikov, writer and traveler Vasily Ivanovich Nemirovich-Danchenko, Cossack General and participant in the Great Siberian Ice March Shchepikhin, writer Averchenko, and many other notable figures. Unfortunately, many graves have been lost due to the lack of payment for the lease, which must be made every 10 years, and this is now done through donations.

In addition to Russian emigrants, soldiers of the 1st division of the ROA, who liberated Prague from the Germans, are buried at Olšany Cemetery. From the Czech side, famous generals of the Czechoslovak Corps rest here: Jan Syrový, who betrayed Kolchak and later became the Czechoslovak Minister of War, and General Radola Gajda. The famous writer Kafka and Orthodox Metropolitan Dorotheus of the Czech Lands and Slovakia, born in the Russian Empire and having lived for a long time in the USSR, are also buried here. Thus, Olšany Cemetery holds practical, cultural, historical, and religious significance.
