When the Penza Diocesan Women's School was located on Dvoryanskaya Street, a dormitory for students was opened on the estate of Vroblova (previously owned by Hofmann), at the corner of Nikolskaya and Dvoryanskaya streets. Initially, the school building was wooden. In 1879, the estate was acquired by the spiritual department, and after a fire on January 8, 1896, which destroyed the dormitory building, a new two-story stone dormitory for the students was built in two years.

After the revolution, the building housed a post and telegraph office, and in 1923, a natural history museum was opened here, based on the POLY museum, which was established in 1905. Currently, this is the Penza Regional Museum, which has a collection of information about the paleontological and geological past of the region, its modern nature and biodiversity, archaeology, and the history of the city's origin.
