The gubernatorial house "Exemplary Barracks" in Kronstadt is a complex of buildings that is a monument of civil architecture of federal significance. Its construction began in 1717 and continued until 1725, with completion in 1832-1833.

The projects were developed by renowned architects I. F. Braunstein and I. G. Gomzin. The construction of gubernatorial houses was initiated by a decree from Peter I to house government institutions and provide accommodation for officials involved in the creation of the city on Kotlin Island. Funding was provided by the provinces, which is how these houses got their name.

"Exemplary Barracks" is one of the 48 surviving buildings of the gubernatorial houses. Despite several major renovations, the complex has retained its original features. The corner three-story building is covered with yellow plaster, and its classical facade is highlighted by the first-floor windows with white fluted framing.

During the Soviet era, the building was used as a dormitory, and it currently stands vacant.
