The Nytvensky Historical and Local Lore Museum was opened in 1958 in honor of the 200th anniversary of the local metallurgical plant. Its founder was Pavel Semyonovich Sonin, a graduate student and alumnus of Moscow State University. Under his guidance, young local historians and adult enthusiasts collected ancient household items, clothing, weapons, and coins.

These artifacts still constitute the most valuable part of the museum's collections. Currently, the museum's collection includes about 15,000 exhibits. A significant portion consists of documents from the Nytva volost of the 19th century and the Nytva district of the late 20th century, as well as the archive of the metallurgical plant and metal products. The diorama "Nytva Fair" is one of the museum's highlights. The museum is located in a historic building recognized as a local architectural monument. The exhibition "The History of the Spoon" adds a special atmosphere and uniqueness to the museum, which has transformed into the Spoon Museum. This is the only museum in the world dedicated to spoons, and its collection includes about 3,000 exhibits.
