The museum, opened on October 29, 1962, is located in a separate building in the center of the village of Nova Chigla. Its collection includes about 5,000 exhibits gathered by the residents of the Talovsky region, more than 3,000 of which are originals. Here, one can find household items of peasants from the 19th and 20th centuries, tools from ancient times to the present, an ethnographic collection of old Russian clothing, a collection of currency, weapons from the Civil War, and documents of its participants. Materials reflecting the period of collectivization and the Great Patriotic War can also be seen, as well as orders and medals awarded to Chigol residents for their military and labor feats.

Visitors are particularly interested in the dioramas "Peasant Field" (Plowman on the Land) and "Interior View of a Peasant Hut."

One of the museum's halls is dedicated to the Soviet Union. Information about the republics, autonomous regions, districts, territories, and various regions of the country is presented on 82 stands in five showcases. Moving from one stand to another, visitors embark on a journey through their homeland. The museum also houses newspapers from 32 districts of the Voronezh region, published on the same day, April 22, 1980.

Among the exhibits, one can see an ancient hand mill, a "Bat" lantern, a handmade wooden roller, a wooden flail, a six-winged windmill, and a yoke for oxen. Thanks to the residents of the village, the museum's funds are constantly being replenished.
