The Lower Kronstadt Lighthouse, built in 1857, became the first lighthouse in Russia made entirely of iron. Originally named Lower Nikolaev, it was renamed after the revolution. However, many still use its old name. For over a hundred years, the lighthouse was one of the city's most important landmarks due to its practical function. It is no longer operational, but its historical significance remains high.

The lighthouse was erected by the San-Galli factory, which promised clients reliable and relatively inexpensive structures. Although the cost is unknown, the quality proved to be excellent; not every structure can withstand such a long period of abandonment. Over time, even the sturdiest constructions deteriorate, and the Lower Nikolaev Lighthouse is no exception, currently in a deplorable state. Nevertheless, it is visited daily by people eager to explore its interiors and enjoy the views from above.

The project included the installation of towers with spiral staircases for workers to ascend, as well as galleries and rooms for lanterns. The metal towers were round with a widening base. The lighthouse tower was painted white, while the lantern's roof was red. The height of the lighthouse was 24.3 meters, and it emitted a constant red light with white flashes. Now, the color of the tower resembles rust, but the quality of the construction is still noticeable.
