The museum-reserve of wooden architecture and folk art in the village of Lower Sinyachikha, Sverdlovsk region, is an amazing place where you can see ancient wooden architecture and learn about the village's way of life. On its territory, there is the Spaso-Preobrazhensky Church from the late 18th to early 19th century, chapels, peasant estates from the 17th and 19th centuries with restored interiors, an inn, a mill, a forge, a fire station, and other buildings. Special attention is drawn to the collection of Ural folk wood painting.

The museum is named after its founder and first director, Ivan Danilovich Samoylov, a local historian who collected and preserved disappearing types of wooden structures and folk art objects. He began with the restoration of the Spaso-Preobrazhensky Church, with active participation from local residents. In 1978, a museum opened in the church, showcasing examples of Ural folk painting, although it did not yet have state status.

Over time, the museum was enriched with buildings found in the area and transported by Samoylov, representing the heritage of wooden architecture. The museum has a branch in the village of Koptelovo, which is also worth visiting. There, a 17th-century peasant hut, the first in the village, has been preserved. Visitors can learn about the life of peasants, their traditions and crafts, as well as see a collection of agricultural tools.

Walking through the museum-reserve, one can enjoy the architecture of the buildings; inside some of them, thematic exhibitions are held, and the peasant houses recreate the atmosphere of the past.

The Spaso-Preobrazhensky Church stands out for its beauty and unusual multi-domed structure, rare for the Ural region and Russia as a whole. Its walls and dome are adorned with frescoes. The church has two floors: previously, there were winter and summer churches, and now, religious cult items and a collection of folk painting are displayed. The wood painting impresses with bright colors and craftsmanship; it decorated the interiors of houses, walls, ceilings, doors, furniture, and tools used by women.

Mineral paints were used for the painting, with motifs featuring plant ornaments, images of people and animals. The exhibition includes part of a house, a white guest room that impresses with its finery. Despite its museum status, services are held on the first floor during major Christian holidays.

In a modest chapel dedicated to Saints Zosima and Savvatiy of Solovki, there is an exhibition dedicated to wood carving. Here, you can see cornices, window frames decorated with carvings, as well as a model of a church that was planned to be moved to the museum but was lost in a fire.

The peasant estates impress with their residential houses and outbuildings; inside some, you can see household items and tools. On the territory of one of the estates, there is a bathhouse. Especially notable is the estate of a prosperous peasant with carved window frames and a white guest room with paintings.

In the management building, there is an exhibition dedicated to the museum's founder, who, thanks to his enthusiasm, created this amazing open-air place.

The windmill stands picturesque on the riverbank. Inside, you can learn about the history of mill development, their types, and principles of operation. There is also an exhibition of ancient flour production tools, including millstones, mortars, pestles, and other items.

The territory also includes other chapels, an inn, a forge, a fire station, a watchtower, and a guard tower.
