The municipal state cultural institution "Nizhnegorsk Historical and Local Lore Museum" is a true treasure trove, where the history, culture, and traditions of the peoples of the Nizhnegorsk district are carefully preserved.

The museum was officially opened on July 5, 1988. The foundation of its exhibition was formed from exhibits of the room-museum of military and labor glory, created in the 1980s at the initiative of the former chairman of the village council, Nikolai Alexeyevich Ryzhikh.

Today, the museum has two exhibition halls, each of which is unique and rich in content, differing in the integrity and systematization of the presented material.

The total area of the museum is 92.2 m². Its collections hold 1550 items, of which 1200 belong to the main fund. Among them are: 135 items of applied art, everyday life, and ethnography, 46 numismatic items, 146 archaeological finds, 2 rare books, 17 items of technical history, and 854 items of printed materials. The auxiliary fund contains 350 exhibits.

The museum's collection is replenished thanks to the efforts of staff and donors who bring items that have been kept at home for a long time, knowing that they will be carefully preserved here. The main task of the museum staff is the formation of collections, as the collection is the heart of the museum and the basis of its existence. To know, to be proud of, and to preserve the cultural heritage of our region is the motto of those who recognize their connection to the past and their responsibility to future generations.

The museum conducts thematic excursions and events dedicated to important dates and events of both state and district significance.

There are 21 school museums and museum rooms operating in 16 municipal educational institutions in the district.

The first hall of the museum, "Gray Antiquity," contains archaeological monuments, tools, ceramic products, and remains of ancient animals, as well as materials from the Middle Ages to the Great October Revolution: tools and household items of peasants, old newspapers, leaflets, brochures, currency, and photographs.

The second hall, "Course for Socialist Construction in Our Region 1920-1941," includes documents, the first decrees, photographs of participants in the October Revolution and social transformations, protocols of collective farm meetings, and documents on the formation of the Seytlersky and Nizhnegorsky districts.

The exhibition "The Great Patriotic War" contains lists of partisans and underground fighters, their photographs and documents, letters from the front, weapons, personal belongings of soldiers, and photographs of the 40th anniversary of Victory celebrations. The section "Afghanistan" includes photographs of fallen soldiers, excerpts from orders, and notifications.

In the foyer, there are exhibits of "Western European Fine Arts," paintings by Soviet and Western artists, photo exhibitions "70th Anniversary of the Great Victory in the Nizhnegorsk District" and "Do You Remember How It All Started," dedicated to the "Crimean Spring," as well as "The Bitterness of Chernobyl" with photographs and lists of liquidators.

The museum's collection includes about 1500 exhibits reflecting the history of the Nizhnegorsk district from ancient times to the era of "developed socialism."

Although the local lore museum in an agricultural area is not a tourist attraction, and guests of the peninsula rarely visit, it serves as a source of interesting and useful knowledge about the native lands for local schoolchildren. The museum is visited by up to 7500 people annually.
