The Mid-Nikolskiy Women's Monastery was founded in 1764 as an Old Believer men's skete created by the Old Believer priest-monk Pakhomiy, who came from Poland. The monastery was located in a picturesque area on the bend of the Irgiz River. By the decree of the Saratov Spiritual Consistory on February 6, 1837, the skete was transformed into a Uniate monastery and became the Mid-Nikolskiy men's communal monastery of the 3rd class. On August 31, 1843, the monastery became a women's monastery and was placed under the management of the nun Yefrosiniya Yeryomina, who became its first abbess. In 1851, the Nikolaevsky district of the Saratov province, where the monastery was located, became part of the newly formed Samara province. The monastery had two churches: the Holy Nikolskiy and the Pokrovskaya. The Holy Nikolskiy church was wooden and cold, sheathed with planks on the outside and plastered on the inside. The church had 14 domes, and nearby stood a four-tiered wooden bell tower, also sheathed with planks, whose height with the cross reached 12 fathoms. In 1886, the Holy Nikolskiy church was rebuilt and consecrated on May 31, 1887. The Pokrovskaya church was originally wooden and warm, without a bell tower. It was sheathed with planks on the outside and painted on three sides of the porch, while the inside was plastered. The church had one dome with a cross 4 meters high.
