The Russian community has spread across the world, and Caracas is no exception. Venezuela did not attract emigrants for a long time, but after World War II, Russian speakers began to arrive here when the country's authorities started inviting qualified specialists, such as engineers, builders, and medical professionals, offering them favorable conditions.

In the 1950s, the local Russian community decided to build an Orthodox church. They collectively raised funds for purchasing land and building materials. Many worked extra hours in the evenings to contribute to the common cause. As a result, they managed to accumulate the necessary amount, and a project in the Novgorod-Pskov architectural style was commissioned. Over time, the cathedral became a cathedral and remains the spiritual center of the Russian community in Venezuela. In 1965, a funeral fund was established at the church to assist the needy, and later, after accumulating significant funds, the community purchased a plot at the local cemetery to ensure the preservation of Russian graves and maintain them in order.

Today, the parishioners of Nikolskiy Cathedral are mainly descendants of emigrants, as well as dispatched citizens from Ukraine and Russia. Sunday services are conducted in Russian, while on weekdays, they are in Spanish, as there are also baptized Venezuelans among the parishioners. Issues of Orthodoxy are discussed, and Russian culture and traditions are shared. The church's rector plans to open a Sunday school in Russian, but there are currently not enough funds. Additionally, the political and economic situation in Venezuela remains unstable.
