The Nikolo-Uleyminsky Monastery is located 11 versts from Uglich, on a major road from Rostov, by the Uleyma River. The exact date of its founding is unknown, but it existed as early as the beginning of the 16th century. In 1610, the monastery was destroyed by the Lithuanian noble Mikulinsky, and then restored by Metropolitan Varlaam of Rostov, who was buried in the Rostov cathedral in 1652.

The monastery features stone churches: the cathedral in honor of Saint Nicholas, the Introduction Church, and the Trinity Church. The cathedral is cold, while the other churches are warm and sturdy. The cathedral has three chapels: the central one is dedicated to Saint Nicholas, the left one to the Great Martyr Theodore Stratilates, and the right one to the Archangel Gabriel and Saint Mary of Egypt. The church feasts are celebrated on May 9, December 6, February 8, April 1, and March 26.

The Introduction Church has two altars: the Introduction of the Mother of God into the Temple and Saint Vlasios the Hieromartyr. The Trinity Church includes three altars: the Holy Trinity, the Prophet Elijah, and Saint Mary Magdalene, as well as Saint Philip the Apostle and Saint Basil the Blessed, the Moscow miracle worker. The time of the original construction is unknown, but the chapels of the Archangel Gabriel and Saint Mary of Egypt were established in 1898, and the Trinity Church was rebuilt in 1891. The chapel of the Archangel Gabriel in the cathedral was funded by the Moscow merchant Maria Alexandrovna Guseva. In the Introduction Church, the chapel of Saint Vlasios the Hieromartyr was established by peasant Semyon Leontyevich Volnukhin from the village of Butakovo in the Uleymin volost.

In the Trinity Church, the chapel of the Prophet Elijah and Saint Mary Magdalene was funded by peasant Mariamna Andreyevna Kukushkina from the village of Glukhova, while the right chapel in honor of Saint Basil the Blessed and the Apostle Philip was established by peasant Philip Dmitrievich Bobrov from the village of Gorushki and Pelageya Ermilievna Basarina from the Uleymin settlement. Among the revered relics is the miraculous icon of Saint Nicholas with a part of his relics, kept in a silver reliquary. There is also a stone chapel at the holy gates on the new road under construction.

The monastery owns 241 desyatinas and 761 square sazhen of land and gifted wastelands: Chistoforova, 23 desyatinas and 1560 square sazhen, Mininskaya, 32 desyatinas, Voronina, 20 desyatinas, Filino, 26 desyatinas, and Temnina.

On the monastery grounds, there is a stone two-story building for the abbot and the brethren, a stone house attached to the left side of the Introduction Church, a stone two-story hotel, three wooden wings, a wooden house at the cattle yard, and a stone wing for workers. The endowment amounts to 81,430 rubles. There is also a church-monastic school operating at the monastery.
