In the village of Permyevo, the church was built relatively late, in 1885. Before this, the villagers attended church in Chires. The construction of the church in Permyevo was made possible by the efforts of Hieromonk Innocent of the Oransk Male Monastery, known in the world as Erofei Nadezhkin, who was born in this village. His brother, David Nadezhkin, a deeply religious man, oversaw the construction work. After his death, he was buried on the church grounds, near the gates.

The church was part of the second Deanery district of the Lukoyanovsky district of the Nizhny Novgorod diocese. The temple was wooden and had two altars. It was consecrated in honor of St. Nicholas the Wonderworker. The parish had 378 men and 353 women. The church staff included a priest and a psalmist, and the church had 36 desyatins of land. The first priest of the Permyevo church was M.V. Nevedomskiy, and the psalmist was A.F. Branitskiy.

Fifteen years later, the number of parishioners grew to more than a thousand people. By this time, a church-parish school was operating, where the local priest, Father Vasily Matveevich Remizov, served as the law teacher since 1892. At that time, the psalmist was V.A. Speranskiy, and the church elder was A.A. Danayev, whose grave is also located near the grave of D. Nadezhkin on the church grounds.

In the 1930s, the church was closed, looted, and destroyed. For the believing parishioners, this became a real tragedy; however, some used the ancient icons for home repairs. The most valuable items from the church were taken away, and the surviving icons and books were distributed among the homes of the faithful. Until the 1990s, a club was located on the site of the church, and after its closure, a prayer house was opened, where local residents returned the preserved church relics.
