In Syzran, there are two Old Believer churches: the Church of the Exaltation of the Holy Cross, located at 46 Ulyanovskaya Street, built by Old Believers of the Belokrinitsky agreement, and the Church of St. Nicholas the Wonderworker at 21 Krasnoarmeyskaya Street, erected by Old Believers of the Pomor agreement. For unknown reasons, the Pomor Old Believers did not seek the return of their church on Krasnoarmeyskaya Street, but decided to use the church at 46 Ulyanovskaya Street, despite having no rights to it.

Understanding Old Believer confessions is not easy, and the Syzran administration assisted the Pomor community in transferring the church at 46 Ulyanovskaya Street. The Belokrinitsky community also appealed to the city administration with a request to return the church on Ulyanovskaya Street.

As a result, the Church of the Exaltation of the Holy Cross at 46 Ulyanovskaya Street was transferred to the Belokrinitsky community, to which it rightfully belongs. However, for inexplicable reasons, the Pomor Old Believers built a prayer house on the territory of the Exaltation Church. This house began to obscure a regional heritage monument and a beautiful architectural structure of the city of Syzran.
