The holy spring is located by the road connecting Vygonichi, Lopush, and Trubchevsk. Previously, it was known as the "Gremuchiy Well" and was situated five versts from the church of Athanasius and Cyril of Alexandria in the village of Lopush, Trubchevsky district of Oryol province, now Bryansk region.

In 1865, local priest Vasily Zverev described the spring as flowing from a hillock. According to locals, the sound of water used to be heard from a verst away, but now it can barely be distinguished from a few fathoms away. Zverev explained this by saying that the water found new cracks in the ground and formed other outlets, as new springs appeared not far from the old site. In 2008-2009, a wooden bathhouse was built over the spring.
