The village of Krasnye Gory in the Sursky District of the Ulyanovsk Region was previously called Kobylevka and was part of the Alatyrsky District of the Simbirsk Province. In 1901, an independent church parish was established here when the village belonged to Prince Potemkin. The church was located on the western side of the village, surrounded by tall poplars. The dimensions of the lost temple were 37 by 13 meters. During the Soviet era, the church building was used by the local state farm as a grain storage.

Unfortunately, the church has not survived, and locals have erected a cross in memory of the lost wooden church. It is sad that only a few people currently live in the village.

The church, belonging to the Orthodox temples of the early 20th century, has been included in the list of identified cultural heritage sites of the Ulyanovsk Region by the order of the head of the regional administration. Currently, the committee has organized a state historical and cultural examination to justify the inclusion or exclusion of this site from the register of historical and cultural monuments.
