On July 31, 1994, Archimandrite Nikandr, the abbot of the Avraamiev-Gorodetsky Monastery on Lake Chukhloma, conducted a minor consecration of the cathedral in honor of the icon of the Mother of God "Tenderness." Already on August 1, in the church, which still had no iconostasis and construction scaffolding, Archbishop Alexander of Kostroma and Galich, along with the clergy of the diocese, held the first Divine Liturgy in many decades. By this time, the crypt of the cathedral, buried under broken bricks and debris, had been cleared; a tomb was again arranged over the relics of the monastery's founder, onto which an ancient shroud was placed. The following year, on August 1, 1995, Archbishop Alexander consecrated the restored wooden chapel above the well dug by St. Avraamy, recreated from old photographs.

In 1996, representatives of the international association "Lermontov Heritage," uniting members of the Lermontov-Lermontov family from around the world, proposed to build a memorial chapel in the monastery in honor of the 400th anniversary of the birth of George Lermont, the founder of the Russian branch of the family. On August 1, 1996, Archbishop Alexander solemnly laid the chapel's foundation. In the summer of 1997, the chapel was built, and on September 21, Archimandrite Nikandr consecrated it in the presence of association members led by President M.Yu. Lermontov.
