The chapel on the pole is located 3 versts from the village of Odoshnur in the Vetluga district. It was built on the site of an old keremet. Keremet is considered an evil spirit by the Mari and Chuvash, and it is also a Chuvash, Mari, or Udmurt sanctuary, a place of worship. Traditionally, crosses were erected at the sites of destroyed pagan shrines. In the chapel, one could always find remnants of offerings, such as porridge and scraps of wool.
