The village of Bektyshevo is located 90 versts from Vladimir and 30 versts from Pereslavl-Zalessky. In the land books of 1628, it is mentioned as the property of the boyar of Patriarch Filaret, Arkhip Semenovich Samsonov. In the census books of 1678, Bektyshevo is listed as jointly owned by his sons Alexander, Mikhail, and Ivan Samsonov. A wooden church of the Introduction of the Most Holy Theotokos stood here until the end of the 18th century.

In 1782, with the funds of the landowner, second lieutenant A.I. Samsonov, the construction of a stone church began on the site of the wooden church. The chapel was consecrated in 1792, and the main church in 1798. In 1874, another warm chapel was added to the church, and now it has three altars: in the cold part, in honor of the Introduction to the Temple of the Most Holy Theotokos, and in the warm chapels, in honor of the holy apostles Peter and Paul and the icon of the Mother of God "Relieve My Sorrows." According to the statute, the church was to have a priest and a psalmist. The parish included the village and the hamlet of Povarovo, where the clerical records listed 212 men and 2440 women.
