Gift is the name not only of a ravine but also of a stream that once flowed here. It was marked on the city development plan in the first quarter of the 19th century and is mentioned even earlier in the "Description of the City of Bryansk." This description states: "This city is situated on the right bank of the Desna River and on the left bank of the Gift Stream, and on both sides of the Sudok and White Well Streams." The well, spring, or source from which a powerful stream of water gushed forth was also called Gift. Over time, our ancestors built a stone rotunda above it, resembling a chapel with a cross.

The holy spring "Gift" is located at the foot of Karachizh Mountain in Bryansk. Before the Great Patriotic War, there was a red brick chapel above the spring, which housed an icon of the Mother of God, in front of which a lamp burned.
