The wooden chapel, built over the revered spring of St. Varus of Vetluga, was constructed in 1702 but was lost during the Soviet period.

"Behind the monastery in the settlement, there was a chapel of St. Varus, made of logs in a fortress style. Next to the Vetluga River on the shore stood another log chapel, also built in a fortress style, inside which there was a well made of logs."
