The branch of the Municipal Cultural Institution "District House of Culture" in the Podgoren municipal district opened the museum on January 16, 1983, coinciding with the 40th anniversary of the liberation of the Podgoren district from Nazi invaders.

The museum consists of four halls: the ancient hall, the pre-war hall, the Hall of Military Glory, and the modern hall. The main focus of the museum's work is organizing exhibitions, displays, and tours for schoolchildren and guests of the district, as well as conducting themed events dedicated to calendar dates.

The ancient hall contains materials about the lives of local residents from pre-revolutionary times, about the stay of poet and Decembrist K. Ryleev in the Podgoren region, about the local sailor from the cruiser "Varyag" V.F. Bakalov, and participants of the First World and Civil Wars. Here you can see a model of a peasant's hut, items found during archaeological excavations, a working weaving loom, and other ancient household and clothing items.

The pre-war hall presents the history of the creation and operation of the Podgoren cement plant, which began production in 1932. It houses Soviet banners, furniture, counting devices, radios, a film projector, a telegraph machine, a typewriter, and photographic materials about the development of industry, agriculture, and healthcare in the pre-war period.

The Hall of Military Glory features photographic materials about local residents who were Heroes of the Soviet Union: M.G. Slyusarev, P.I. Goncharov, V.F. Kiryakov, I.N. Arsenyev, as well as full cavaliers of the Order of Soldier's Glory: N.I. Maslov, V.T. Strygin, P.A. Burakov, and Hero of Russia A.N. Belodedov. The exhibits tell the story of a partisan group that operated in the district during the Great Patriotic War and about locals such as I.V. Kovalyov, a general and minister of transport during the war, and K.A. Miloradova, a partisan and combat friend of Zinaida Kosmodemyanskaya.

The museum also preserves personal belongings and photographs of the soldiers who liberated the Podgoren district, as well as locals who died in Afghanistan and Chechnya.

The modern hall is dedicated to the natural resources of the region, the sports achievements of young wrestlers from the district's Youth Sports School, distinguished individuals from the area, the creativity of local poets and writers, and those who glorify their homeland through labor achievements, scientific accomplishments, and talent.
