In the churchyard of St. Mary and St. Sexburga in Minster-in-Sheppey, Kent, there is a tombstone in memory of M. A. Sheping, a captain of the 2nd rank of the Russian Imperial Navy, who passed away on March 7, 1799, at the age of 44. The church is often referred to as Minster Abbey.

In 1796, M. A. Sheping commanded the ship "Iziaslav," which participated in practical sailing in the Baltic Sea and the Gulf of Finland. From 1798 until his death, he was the captain of the ship "Isidor," which joined the Baltic Fleet in 1795. The ship sailed from Arkhangelsk to Britain, and M. A. Sheping died on board. It is known that shortly before his death, he was playing cards.
