Vostryakov School

The large charitable complex on the banks of the Yauza began construction in 1888 according to the will of the famous Moscow merchant of the first guild, Gerasim Ivanovich Kludov. His daughters, the heirs, became the main patrons and donors. After the establishment of the almshouse, free apartment buildings, and a section for the weak and sick, it was decided to open an educational institution. In 1893, Klavdiya Gerasimovna Vostryakova, born Kludova, who had lost two children, along with her husband, decided to use their funds to build a primary school for the children living in the house. The old building of the former owner Vasilyev was reconstructed for the school. Named after its founders, the school could accommodate sixty orphans living in free apartments. The Vostryakovs also took on the expenses of maintaining the school, amounting to 5,000 rubles per year. In 1895, a second floor with a hall and apartments for female teachers was added to the school for 40,000 rubles.

In 1897, Gerasim Ivanovich's eldest daughter, Pelageya, decided to add a free women's craft school for 60 students in memory of her prematurely departed daughter. The project was commissioned to architect L.N. Kekushev, who actively collaborated with Kludov's heirs in the 1890s. The small two-story annex turned out to be very concise, and only the window frames reveal the master's style. The window frames with complex glazing are deeply recessed into the wall, and above them is a pointed frame. A small shelf is located under the window. These elements are characteristic of Kekushev's work.

After the revolution, the school and the craft school were closed.
