In January 2010, a unique hospitality venue, the Municipal Cultural Institution 'Museum and Tourist Complex 'City of Masters', opened in Gorodets, Nizhny Novgorod Region. It was recreated in the traditions of Russian wooden architecture. The architectural structures of the complex are especially valuable as they showcase the history of 'deaf' house carving in all its splendor and diversity, characteristic of Gorodets craftsmen.
The Russian ideal of beauty, embodied in the traditions of northern carpenters, harmoniously combines with the richness of Gorodets folk arts and crafts presented in the complex.
We are always happy to offer visitors the best exhibitions: ancient Russian painting, items with Gorodets painting, gold embroidery, lace-style embroidery, wood carving, pottery, and whistle from a jug maker. Our craftsmen will demonstrate traditional techniques of working with wood, clay, and fabric, as well as conduct master classes on creating clay toys and Gorodets painting.
In the hall of traditional rituals, one can participate in the tea ceremony 'Ivan, Chai' with Gorodets gingerbread and sweets.
The folklore group 'Gorenka' will greet guests with Russian round dance songs and dances, scenes from rituals and holidays of the Russian people, creating a great atmosphere and leaving unforgettable impressions.
