The Prokhorovka Field Museum-Reserve, officially known as the State Military-Historical Museum-Reserve "Prokhorovka Field," is a multifunctional complex that unites various sites dedicated to commemorating and popularizing the heroism displayed during the Great Patriotic War. On Prokhorovka Field, one of the largest tank battles in history took place on July 12, 1943. This site is the third battlefield in Russia after Kulikovo and Borodino.

On February 17, 1971, during Marshal Rotmistrov P. A.'s visit to Prokhorovka, the idea arose to immortalize the memory of the heroes of the Battle of Kursk. By March 1973, the first monument was erected at a height of 252.2 m, a T-34-85 tank brought from the Central Asian Military District. Soon, two Zis-2 artillery pieces were delivered on a railway platform.

On July 11, 1973, the first memorial to the participants of the battle was opened, consisting of a tank and two guns, marking the beginning of the future museum-reserve.

In 1981, a memorial sign was installed at the site of the heroism of the anti-tank gunners under the command of Senior Lieutenant P. I. Shpetny. Here, the anti-tank gunners destroyed seven tanks of the SS "Dead Head" division.

On July 12, 1994, on the 51st anniversary of the tank battle, a cross was erected at the brotherly grave in the village of Storozhevoe Vtoroe, crafted by sculptor Vyacheslav Mikhailovich Klykov.

On April 26, 1995, President B. N. Yeltsin signed a decree to establish the State Military-Historical Museum-Reserve "Prokhorovka Field." This decision was made at the suggestion of the leadership of the Belgorod region and the Ministry of Culture of the Russian Federation.

On May 3, 1995, the Bell Tower monument and the Church of Saints Peter and Paul were opened in Prokhorovka. Both sites were consecrated by Patriarch Alexy II. On the same day, with his blessing, the "Library of N. I. Ryzhkov" was opened in the clergy house near the church. Over time, the library moved to a new building of the cultural and historical center "Prokhorovka Field," where a video hall and paintings were added.

On May 3, 2000, the rotunda "Bell of Unity of the Three Brotherly Peoples" was opened in Prokhorovka, attended by the presidents of Russia, Ukraine, and Belarus, as well as representatives of the clergy.

On May 2, 2010, the building of the "Museum of Military Glory of the Third Battlefield of Russia" was opened. In front of the museum, a sculptural-artistic composition "Tank Battle at Prokhorovka. Ramming" was installed, created by sculptor Friedrich Sogoyan and his son Vage.

On May 16, 2015, a tank range was opened, with a track located near the "Third Battlefield of Russia" museum, and the stands accommodate 1,300 people.

On May 9, 2020, the opening of a new complex dedicated to rear workers is planned.

The museum's sites are located over a vast area. Most of them are situated in the village of Prokhorovka, on the Tank Field and in the Victory Park, which adjoins the Zvonitsa stop, five kilometers southwest of the Prokhorovka station.
