The Military History Museum 'Sverdlovsk: Moscow Speaks!' began its operations on December 18, 2020.

The museum's exhibition is dedicated to the activities of the All-Union Radio Committee and the work of the All-Union Radio announcer Yuri Levitan, who was the main voice of Victory, in wartime Sverdlovsk from the autumn of 1941 to the spring of 1943.

In the autumn of 1941, the All-Union Radio Committee and Yuri Levitan were evacuated to Sverdlovsk. For a year and a half, the famous announcement 'Attention! Moscow is speaking!' was broadcast from here, from an old mansion at the intersection of Radishcheva and March 8 streets, where the museum is now located.

The museum successfully combines traditional methods of creating exhibitions with modern multimedia technologies. The radio studio from which broadcasts were made is recreated using variable transparency glass, and unique archival video materials allow visitors to see the announcer at work and hear his voice delivering urgent messages.

The museum features historical documents related to the stay of the radio committee in Sverdlovsk and information about the important role of radio during the war and post-war years. Here, one can see rare exhibits, such as the military field telephone TAI-43, used on the battlefields of the Great Patriotic War.

A separate hall is dedicated to the Great Patriotic War and the life of wartime Sverdlovsk. The museum displays household items, rare archival photographs, and documents that tell about the life of the city during the war, as well as the labor and military feats of the Ural residents.

Since December 23, 2020, the museum has been accepting visitors only by appointment and with the use of personal protective equipment, such as masks and gloves, until the lifting of restrictions.
