It is dedicated to one of the most successful entrepreneurs who supplied vodka and wine to the courts of the Russian emperor and the Swedish king, awarded the Order of Saint Anna 2nd class, Peter Arsenievich Smirnov, a native of Myshkin district. The world-famous vodka brand Smirnoff with the white-red label was created by his son, Vladimir Petrovich Smirnov.

Peter Arsenievich's fortune during his lifetime was estimated at nearly 9 million rubles. Notably, he earned this wealth on his own, despite being born a serf. After the abolition of serfdom in 1861, having received a letter of freedom, Smirnov went to Moscow, where his entrepreneurial talent blossomed. Starting with a small shop selling wine, within a few years he became the owner of a vodka enterprise producing high-quality products. Peter Smirnov was one of the few who received the right to use the state coat of arms on his goods. By the end of the 19th century, his enterprise, which began with nine employees, had grown to five thousand. Smirnov's wines, vodkas, and liqueurs received top awards at international exhibitions in Vienna, Philadelphia, Paris, Stockholm, and Chicago.

Visitors to the Peter Smirnov Museum learn about the life story of this remarkable man. The exhibition features antique bottles and decanters, the first labels of wine products, glasses, shot glasses, and trays. Personal belongings of the number one entrepreneur of Myshkin district can also be seen. The residents of Myshkin claim that it was from their city that the tradition of the Russian feast originated, where one can drink strong beverages without becoming drunk. Visitors will learn about the wines and liqueurs that existed, as well as the traditions and customs of their consumption, in the museum. The museum also has materials about Boris Alekseevich Smirnov, the great-grandson of the 'vodka king,' who continues the family business by producing various strong drinks. His products, like those of the first Smirnovs, have received international awards. Among his goods stand out the vodkas 'Arsenich,' 'Gorodovoy,' and 'Zolotoy Smirnov.' Boris Alekseevich has the exclusive right to produce 'Table Wine No. 21,' one of the varieties of 40-degree purified vodka. Every year, descendants of the famous 'vodka king' gather in Myshkin, contributing to the maintenance and development of the museum.
